Our very own John Sylvester has been recognised by a panel of industry peers as a ‘Trailblazer’ in the field of Gift Cards and Vouchers.
He was presented the award at the inaugural UK Gift Card and Voucher Association (UKGCVA) Members Awards, otherwise known as ‘The Gifties’, hosted last week.
Members of the Association (representing key players in the industry worth over £4bn per year in the UK) agreed that John’s pioneering work within the B2B arena over the past 12 months justified the win.
During that time John has overseen the migration of many B2B programmes from paper vouchers to plastic gift cards, with 43% of our total volume of orders placed on plastic by the end of 2012 (vs 17% in December 2011). John has also been instrumental in the introduction of over 25 new retail gift cards, the implementation of e-voucher codes and the launch of a brand new prepaid card benefit solution, MySpree. In fact, in 2012 84% of the total UK card loads in the prepaid B2B open loop card market came via a p&mm platform.
John is also a member of the IPM (Institute of Promotional Marketing) Board of Directors, regular contributor to industry press and was instrumental in establishing the UK’s first Motivation diploma.
“I am extremely pleased and very humbled to have been presented with this award. I have always appreciated the motivational value of vouchers, gift cards and prepaid cards and have been fascinated by the development of technology in this arena over recent years. I hope that, along with my team at p&mm, we will continue to develop new methods of delivery for staff and consumer rewards and I know we will always strive to stay one step ahead on behalf of our clients.”
